Overclocking

I would not recommend overclocking these processors. Usually the BIOS defaults are good enough, as it always chooses the best settings automatically. If you change the BIOS settings to values your motherboard does not support, then your motherboard will not boot or go through the Power on Self Test (POST). To recover from this, one usually has to reset the CMOS settings using the reset jumper on the motherboard.

eBay / Cost

Usually eBay is the place where you can find used and new Athlon XP processors for sale, and since it is an old processor you can usually pick one up for around five pounds. If you have a slow model 6 processor, then the chances are high that your motherboard can be upgraded with a faster one. Some of the faster ones such as the Athlon XP 3000+ can work in most motherboards with bus speed s of 333 MHz or 400 MHz, and the performance is comparable to a 3 GHz Pentium 4. You can also run Windows 7 on the Athlon XP, however you will not be able to upgrade to Windows 10 which requires a modern processor. You will also not be able to run the latest version of Chrome. On the bright side, a streamlined Windows XP can be very fast and many people still use it today.
